My final major project began recently and has given me the opportunity to create my own brief. I am therefore answering the question ’what if we all had a green space?’, which will explore, through illustration, what our surroundings could look like if everything, from buildings to boats, had a garden of some kind.
After conducting research on various existing green spaces, artists and organisations, I have begun to illustrate potential ideas. Spending mornings sketching on the universities rooftop terrace (which will one day be turned into a rooftop garden) has helped inspire my work, as I create an ongoing collection of observational drawings. Instead of jumping straight to digital work, which I often do, I am making a conscious effort to include various media in this project. At the moment I am working in watercolour, however have plans to bring collage and photography to the project, whilst still maintaining an illustrative outcome.
